eXo Collaboration Suite and its Centralized Storage
Our team is working very hard to build the next generation of collaboration applications such as:
- Contact Manager with Instant Messaging features
- Web Mail
- Shared Calendar
The first beta release of those 3 applications will be made in January 2008 but you can already download the “pioneer build” on our OW2 forge
Most of those applications are almost completed and we are entering an extensive test and QA phase.
The calendar application is probably the most advanced one and can really leverage Drag and Drop features or the extensive use of AJAX technology. As always a lot of work as been dedicated to the artwork to make it a pleasure to use the application everyday.

That eXo CS product is one important milestone in our vision to “virtualize the desktop” through rich web applications that will all store their configuration AND content inside a collaborative file system hosted on the company servers.
On the next screenshots you can see that every users has its own home directory and that every personal calendar information is stored there:
Along with the multi window management technology, the virtualize file system is one core part of the WebOS platform that reproduces an OS system within the browser.
But it goes further! Indeed, that file system natively supports versioning, locking, metadata extrcation, full text search as well as advanced search based on documents properties….and much much more.
