Cartoon of the Week: So-Called Guardians of Peace Blackmail Sony

eXo Platform Blog

This week, The Guardians of Peace launched a hacker attack on Sony, in order to prevent it from releasing The Interview film. As a result, emails between Sony and Snapchat executives were leaked, revealing sensitive information about Snapchat’s business plan. The Guardians of Peace then threatened to attack movie theatres playing the film, leading Sony to cancel the release. It’s incredible how much power hackers potentially hold, and that they’re able to publicly blackmail a big corporation like Sony.
